Planning your photo session in the NC Triad
A little preparation can help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Use this guide to think through your outfits, location, and the moments you want to remember.
Start with the photographs you want to remember
Think about why you are booking: updated family portraits, a growing baby bump, an engagement, or a new chapter together. Tell me who will be photographed, preferred dates, and any important details. You can browse the portfolio and share a few examples of the feeling you like without needing to recreate another session.
What to wear for family and couples photos
Begin with one outfit you feel comfortable in, then choose colors that work well alongside it. Complementary tones and a mix of simple textures can feel coordinated without everyone wearing the same thing. Consider the setting and season, and choose clothes that let you sit, walk, and move easily. Try outfits on beforehand and bring comfortable walking shoes.
Choosing a photo location in the NC Triad
Consider the atmosphere you like, the walking involved, and whether the space will work for everyone joining you. The maternity portfolio includes Pilot Mountain, Tanglewood Arboretum, and Tanger Bicentennial Gardens. Browse those examples for visual inspiration, then ask about a location that suits your session. Access, opening hours, permissions, fees, and photography rules can change and must be confirmed with the venue before making plans.
Preparing children for a family session
Tell me the children’s ages and any needs or preferences that would help us plan. Leave time to arrive without rushing, and bring a familiar comfort item if it helps your child settle. Comfortable clothes and shoes matter more than a complicated outfit. Let children know you will be spending time together and taking photographs; they do not need to practice a perfect smile.
Maternity and Fresh 48 preparation
For maternity portraits, share your due date and discuss timing, comfort, and location access before booking. For Fresh 48, tell me your expected due date and whether you are considering home or hospital photographs within your newborn’s first 48 hours. Confirm availability and coordination with me, and check hospital visitor and photography policies when applicable. Keep a favorite blanket or keepsake nearby if you would like it included.
Planning for a Seasonal Mini
Seasonal Minis are curated sessions decorated for the season and are priced at $135. The Fall and Christmas photographs in the portfolio show past setups. Ask about upcoming dates, the planned decorations, and session details before choosing outfits. Seasonal Minis are separate from the general $80 Mini session. Share the number of participants and children’s ages when you inquire.
What to send when you inquire
Include the type of session, preferred dates, number of people, and any location ideas. For a wedding, add the ceremony location, timing, and the parts of the celebration you want photographed. I reply within two business days, then we confirm availability and plan your session. Use the Services & FAQs page for current prices, inclusions, and further answers.
After your session
Edited galleries are generally delivered within 1–2 weeks, with photos available to download and print. Confirm the expected timing for your booking when we plan your session.
